What Does Regenerative Mean to Hobby Ag Farm?

At Hobby Ag, farming with purpose is at the heart of everything we do.
Regenerative farming isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a way of giving back to the land, enriching the soil, and ensuring a future for small family farms.
But what exactly does regenerative mean to us?
- It means giving back more than we take.
- It means leaving the land better than we found it.
- It means attending the Soil Health Academy and other events to apply ecological principles.
- It means we’re passionate about helping small family farms thrive in the future.
- It means we’re intentional about engaging and empowering the next generation of farmers.
The term "regenerative" has unfortunately been greenwashed, much like "pastured," "natural," and "organic." Companies throw these labels around to appear eco-friendly while continuing harmful practices behind the scenes.
Just recently, I saw an ad from a major egg producer, seeking growers to raise up to 20,000 birds for “pastured eggs” in a permanent building. They require 60 acres of pasture or woods for the hens to roam, but in our experience, chickens rarely wander more than 400 feet from their home. That only covers about 11 ½ acres—not quite the sprawling pasture they advertise.
Ever asked your farmer how they manage their pastured flocks?
When I think of regeneration, I’m reminded of its mention in God's Word:
Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
What does regenerative mean to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts—just leave a comment below!
Blessings,
Farmer Raymond
